The Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology is
designed primarily for people who seek full-time employment in the area of electronics
immediately upon completion of the community college program. People who are first seeking
employment in the area of electronics or who seek a promotion may benefit from
this program. Specifically, the objectives of the program are to prepare
graduates for careers as electronics technicians, industrial electronics
technicians, instrumentation technicians, consumer product repair technicians,
communications technicians, computer network technicians, and technical
salespeople. Generally, the A.A.S. in Electronics Technology is the minimum
requirement for many employment opportunities in the field of electronics.
Many BRCC Electronics Technology Program graduates continue on to Old Dominion
University (ODU) for their junior- and senior-level courses in pursuit of a
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer
Engineering Technology. The ODU courses can be taken on campus at BRCC via
Satellite (ODU TELETECHNET).
The Electronics Technology Program is structured so
that students need no previous electrical or electronics knowledge.
* Full-time students may complete the degree in two years; part-time students
determine their own pace. |
